Another highlight on the music scene is the popular summer music concerts (“Musiques en été 2019”) ranging from jazz to soul, reggae to classical music and performed by artists from around the world. Your choice whether to sit back and relax or dance the night away. These free outdoor concerts are held on the Ella Fitzgerald Stage in Geneva’s beautiful Parc La Grange throughout the summer. Join expats and locals alike with a picnic and maybe a lawn chair or two. Photos from last year’s event can be viewed here.
Looking ahead, make note of “Les Nuits du Monde”, a world music festival held in November at the Alhambra music hall and the St. Gervais church. You’ll hear unique music from all around the world, from Mongolian throat singing to traditional Sardinian tunes.
For classical music lovers, you’ll want to visit the stunning Victoria Hall. We definitely recommend the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR), which just celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Also don’t miss the Festival de Bellerive. Created in 1985 and held annually at La Ferme de Saint-Maurice since 1999, this festival brings a selection of classical music to a beautifully wooded area just outside Geneva, boasting a breathtaking panorama of Lake Geneva and the vineyards.
