This huge hourglass is a real entertainment performing a show every 36 seconds, everything under the glare of the spotlight.
Located in the Domaine de Penthes, near the international organisations’ neighborhood and next to the Museum of the Swiss abroad, this masterpiece in the heart of the capital of peace is well worth a visit.
5,7 meters high, this symbol of Geneva’s cultural life is a present from the State of Geneva to the municipality of Pregny-Chambésy. Representing the transition to the year 2000, it was created by Thomas Büchi, a famous engineer and master carpenter from Geneva who is also the technical designer of the “Broken Chair” at the Place des Nations and “the Globe of Science and Innovation” at the CERN.
