Wellness in winter

Winter is the perfect time to relax and rejuvenate. Geneva is well known for its special combination of natural beauty and luxury, making it the perfect city for a pampering winter break.  Surrounded by snowcapped mountains on the edge of Lake Geneva, it offers nature, shopping, as well as pure indulgence and relaxation.

Wellness begins with YOU!

If you’re in need of a bit of TLC and pampering, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Geneva. Whether it is a luxurious facial or relaxing massage, a day at one of Geneva’s luxury spas will banish the winter blues. Here are some of our recommendations for the best luxury spas in the city.

The Kempinski Spa is the biggest in Geneva; with 1400 sqm of relaxation and 12 private treatment rooms it’s no wonder they call it the Well-being Destination of Geneva!

Their 20 m in length pool is the largest covered hotel pool and is kept at a steamy 28 degrees, making it the perfect place to keep warm and cozy.

The Spa includes a fitness center, sauna, steam room and private treatment rooms. The spa menu is impressive and offers treatments using the world famous Valmont skincare products.

Besides being famous for watches and chocolate, Switzerland is also well known for its luxurious skincare products. The Valmont skincare range was developed just off the shores of Montreux and has its head office in Geneva.  To take full advantage of the spa experience at The Kempinski we suggest trying their 3-hour pampering cocooning treatment.

The Nescens Spa is Geneva’s first comprehensive health spa, offering a unique range of services. The spa not only provides lavish spa treatments that one can come to expect, but also includes services such as a hair spa, osteopathy and nutrition treatments, several anti-aging programs, sport and fitness facilities and even a beautiful intimate café reserved only for spa quests.

These services are provided by a team of therapists, coaches and medical specialists with expertise in preventive and anti-aging medicine, as well as aesthetic medicine. The Nescen Spa embodies the spirit of winter wellness with their well-known La Prairie treatments. La Prairie is another famous luxury skincare brand developed in Switzerland. It is well known for using the nutritive and restorative properties of caviar in their products.

We recommend trying the Swiss bliss treatment, described as a ‘dream experience that suspends time!’ This special program simultaneously works the entire body – from scalp to toes – producing a sensation of total relaxation and well-being.

Besides the many relaxing spas, there are plenty of things to do to help unwind and feel well in Geneva. We are firm believers in the relaxation qualities of shopping!

Geneva is well known for its high-end luxury brands that adorn the streets in town but the city is also home to some small luxury boutique shops that offer a unique and indulgent shopping experience.

You’ll feel cozy and well looked after in any of the following venues!

When it comes to feel-good factor, there is very little that competes with chocolate! For the ultimate self treat, visit Geneva’s first fresh chocolate tasting bar at Favarger, one of the biggest names in Swiss chocolate.

The chocolate bar is a gourmet immersion and sensual experience. High wooden tables, elegant bar stools, subdued lights, jazzy music, retro-chic ambiance and of course the best selection of quality chocolate you can imagine.

Melt-in-the-middle or crunchy pralines, heart-shaped ganaches, black chocolates and colourful domes: Choose a plate of 6 gourmet chocolates (there are 8 different themes to choose from) and let your tastebuds explode as they explore new and exciting tastes and combinations. Enjoy your tasting plate with a cup of coffee or another drink and take home your favourites in pretty little boxes.

Our favourite: The wasabi dark chocolate from the Hot and Spicy selection. Not too sweet, not too strong – but a definite hint of wasabi in a melt-in-the-mouth pure dark chocolate.

The man behind the masterful chocolate creations is Marc-André Cartier, the brand’s newly appointed chef of fresh chocolates – cool job!
