For György Kurtág’s centenary, HEM and CMG perform all ten books of Játékok, plus the world premiere of the unpublished Book XI.

To mark the centenary of György Kurtág, the Haute école de musique de Genève and the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève present the complete performance of the ten books of Játékok (Games). As part of this journey, Book XI, still unpublished and not yet available in print, will receive its world premiere within the cycle.
This landmark piano cycle, made up of miniatures that are both playful and demanding, explores gesture, texture and the musical languages of the contemporary repertoire, from beginner to advanced level.
Under the artistic direction of Cédric Pescia, Professor of Piano at HEM, the project brings together a wide community of young pianists from the Haute école de musique de Genève, the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève, the Conservatoire populaire de musique, danse et théâtre, the Institut Jaques Dalcroze, the pre-college programme and intensive tracks, as well as students from HEM’s Music and Movement department. This collective journey, between creation, transmission and sonic discovery, is presented as part of CMG’s 190th anniversary celebrations and highlights the energy of Geneva’s music education network.
