From January 20 to February 28, come and discover the Espace Borges at the Bibliothèque de la Cité: an exhibition of photographs and books celebrating his love for Geneva and his passion for reading.

In the year marking the 40th anniversary of the death of Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, and as part of the BORGES 2026 project by the Swiss association Los conjurados, the Municipal Library Network pays tribute to this adopted son of Geneva, who made books the instrument of his life and libraries his paradise.
Borges was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on August 24, 1899, and died in Geneva on June 14, 1986. Between these two dates and two cities unfolds his entire life and literary legacy. He published his first book in 1923, "Fervor de Buenos Aires", a poetic homage to the city of his childhood. His final book, "Los conjurados" (1985), takes its title from the last poem of his career and is dedicated to Switzerland—especially to Geneva. Since 1986, Borges has rested eternally at the Plainpalais Cemetery of Kings.
Come and discover the Espace Borges, and explore the Borgesian treasures preserved in Geneva’s municipal libraries.
