Season 25-26

The term Kara Deniz, meaning “Black Sea,” is central to the history of the Crimean Tatars. The cradle of an ancient and still vibrant culture, this vast area has for centuries been a crossroads of exchange between Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Anatolia.
This program reveals the soul of Tatar musical tradition through emblematic pieces, where melodies richly ornamented with Eastern inflections provide fertile ground for virtuoso improvisation.
Concert organized by the Ateliers d'ethnomusicologie and the AMR, with the support of the City of Geneva and the Fonds culturel Sud.
