Rituals in Motion - Uyghur Dolan Dance with Amina Laforce
Discover Dolan dancing with Amina Laforce, an ancestral art with shamanic roots. See the power of dancing in togetherness: a tradition passed on with strength and pride in a one-of-a-kind workshop!
Sunday, June 15 - 1:15 PM to 3:45 PM
Embark on a journey through Dolan dance, one of the oldest and most powerful choreographic traditions of the Uyghur people. Originating from the edges of the Taklamakan Desert, this whirling dance draws from a nomadic, shamanic, and warrior heritage.
This rare workshop will be led by the talented Amina Laforce, an Uyghur dancer, choreographer, and teacher. After 15 years of professional dance in her homeland, she settled in Switzerland, where she has shared Uyghur traditional arts since 2015 through her festival, Amina’s Karavane.
Amina is one of the guest artists of the 6th edition of the Extravadanza Festival!, dedicated to the sharing of dance traditions, organized by Association Akhtar in Geneva.
With rhythmic gestures, powerful movements, and collective energy, Dolan dance is a living memory of a resilient people—an emotional and symbolic ritual brought to life through movement.
When a ritual becomes dance, the circle unites bodies and souls...
This workshop is open to everyone!
