Autumn has arrived! And with it, vines, chestnuts, pumpkin or even venison, hare and other game accompanied by lavish dark brown sauces. You’ve got it, autumn is game season! And in Geneva, gourmets don’t deviate from tradition… For the occasion we’ve come up with a selection of the best game restaurants in Geneva as well as a list of the best meat establishments. For meat

Beef 

The temple of exceptional meat. Beef is specialised in high quality beef and is supplied by the renowned Metzger Brothers. Some breeds to discover: Simmental, Aberdeen Angus, Blonde de Gallice, Charolaise, Australian Wagyu, Black Angus, Aubrac, Salers… Rare and exceptional meats feature on this tasty menu in the heart of the city, not far from the Carrefour de Rive. Chez Philippe

In the Passage des Lions, in the heart of the banking district, discover Philippe Chevrier’s steakhouse (2 stars at Domaine de Châteauvieux). A New York atmosphere and meat from the famous Molard butcher’s shop feature on the menu. All the cuts are grilled over beechwood charcoal, which gives them an inimitable flavour. La Huchette à Carouge

Le Patio

Beef or lobster? This is the gourmet dilemma you’ll face at Le Patio! Located on the left bank of the city, the bistro has been for many years a den for hedonists in search of exceptional meat or divine seafood. For meat, beef is in the spotlight (Braised oxtail ravioli, beef tartar, grilled Chateaubriand, Swiss Angus Tomahawk…). L’Esquisse

Head to L’Esquisse, a stone’s throw from the lake, in the heart of the Eaux-Vives district, for some delicious meat dishes, grilled or cooked in a Josper charcoal oven to lend it unique flavour and taste. Au Pied de Cochon

Located on the Place du Bourg-de-Four in the Old Town, this establishment is a must. Lovers of good food, quality products and hearty, 100% homemade dishes, this place is for you. From October onwards, the restaurant has delicious game suggestions in store, like this year’s Grandma’s venison stew or the Noisettes of venison with cranberries. Chez Arsène 

In a small alley in the Rive district nestles a small Belle-Epoque bistro serving home-made, French and Italian inspired market cuisine. Chez Arsène is the place to be for food lovers looking for quality products and finely crafted recipes. Côté Square

The autumn menu has just been revealed at Hôtel Bristol! In its Côté Square restaurant, the hotel will be offering a menu over the coming weeks dedicated to game. Chef Bruno Marchal has thought up a “Hunters’ Menu” to tantalise your taste buds, featuring Half-cooked wild boar slices, Entrecote of venison in a shallot condiment crust and Apple and salted caramel entremetsbristol.ch 

Domaine de Châteauvieux

This is one of Geneva’s iconic venues for game in Geneva. And it’s a starred one too! With two Michelin stars, Domaine de Châteauvieux and its chef Philippe Chevrier are particularly fond of autumn dishes. Saddle of venison, woodcock, partridge and other game dishes enhanced by the French chef are available until December.  chateauvieux.ch

Le Dix Vins à Carouge

This bistro, a real institution in the Sardinian city, is a must for all game enthusiasts. Every year, the locals are full of praise for the autumnal suggestions of Le Dix Vins. With an exceptional wine list, the establishment is a treat for hedonists and other foodies. Don’t forget to reserve!

Le Lexique

A special game menu and dedicated evenings are on the programme for the coming weeks at Le Lexique. In the Grottes district, a stone’s throw from Cornavin train station, chef Cyrille Montanier offers some particularly delightful specialities each year… Ravioles de Perdreaux, Lièvre à la Royale, Filet de Cerf… The next game evenings are scheduled on Saturdays 9 October, and on 13 and 27 November.
