A Family Affair
If there's one place in Geneva that fans of authentic Mexican cuisine have already embraced, it's Taco Rico.
However, it all started in New York. In 2013, David Emma was there to learn English. At 24, he was planning a career in finance upon his return to Switzerland. A meal at a Mexican restaurant on 6th Avenue changed everything. Not only was everything delicious, but it was also prepared on-site using fresh, local ingredients. The idea took hold in David's mind: since no Mexican restaurant of this kind existed in Geneva, he would open one!
No sooner said than done, or almost. The young entrepreneur researched the New York Mexican grill concept in detail, then shifted into high gear once back in Switzerland. He found a location in Geneva and had it completely renovated by local craftsmen. He selected suppliers who could guarantee him 100% Swiss-made, high-quality meat.
He partnered with a Mexican chef who developed the recipes and trained the staff for several months, ensuring that absolutely everything, from the guacamole to the prawns, including the marinades and the meats, was always homemade. A few months later, David opened Taco Rico, fulfilling a long-held dream of his father, whose parents had also owned a restaurant.
Because this Mexican grill is truly a family affair. David manages the restaurant with his sister. In the kitchen, their mother prepares Mexican specialties, simmers the cochinita marinade for 24 hours, or whips up a truly exceptional guacamole, several times a day.
Because that's what makes Taco Rico so special: consistently fresh, top-quality, and locally sourced products. To demonstrate once and for all that you can eat well, even when you have little time!
