Over centuries, the venerable temple has withstood religious changes and today features precious archeologic remains.
This site of spiritual and historical memories is built on the foundations of a 4th century sanctuary and a 10th century Romanesque church. During Reformation times in the 16th century, the church became a place of Protestant worship. Since 2005, the Espace St Gervais has symbolised the renewed presence of the Protestant Church in the heart of the city. Worship services are organised every Sunday. The archeological site with the remains of a Gallo-Roman temple, the first proof of human presence on Genevan soil, can be visited.
