A first for Geneva: the city hosts the 2021 EASL (European Association for the Study of the Liver) Congress in virtual mode
Experts in the organisation of face-to-face and virtual congresses, Geneva and its partners succeeded in organising one of the largest medical congresses in Europe in just a few weeks, “The International Liver Congress”, in which 8,000 delegates participated online.
Thanks to five studios equipped with the latest technology that were set up in a magnificent farmhouse in the middle of the Geneva vineyards, EASL was able to offer its members a rich and complete programme with speakers all over the world. To ensure comfort and conviviality, the congress was modelled on the style of a television programme, with daily live sessions, hosted by the EASL Committee and filmed in the different rooms of the farm and in the garden. This innovative virtual concept enabled EASL to maintain its congress in optimal conditions, with technical support provided to the speakers who were located in their respective countries, despite the health restrictions. As for the 8,000 participants, they were not only able to attend the presentations and workshops but also to appreciate Swiss know-how through this unique virtual experience.
