Description

In the heart of the city, the Palais de l’Athénée features differents lounges and the Salle des Abeilles, famous for its rich decor.

The Palais de l’Athénée has housed the Société des Arts since 1863, which received the building as a gift from its generous patrons of arts, the philhellene JeanGabriel Eynard and his spouse Anna Eynard Lullin. The Palais de l’Athénée is the work of the architects Gabriel Diodati and Charles Schaeck. It was refurbished in 1985. The Committee of the Red Cross was founded in 1883 in the Grand Salon. Other institutions such as the International Committee of Historical Sciences and the International Children Welfare Union were also founded within its walls.
