Suggestion for the season: A daytime walk in Geneva

To start the day well, what better than a good breakfast at Bains des Pâquis? The place is relaxed and exotic, in the middle of the lake with a superb view of the Jet d'eau. A few brave souls swim there all year round (in winter too!): there is even a famous competition, The Christmas Race, for the most stout-hearted swimmers!

Breakfast is copious: large slices of bread with your choice of butter, jam or spread, fruit salad or muesli, orange juice or special fresh “daily” juice and a hot drink. A real treat!

To continue this picturesque day, you can take a Mouette boat shuttle, a historic traditional Geneva boat that will ferry you across the lake on the M2 line from Pâquis to Eaux-Vives.The boat ride is a change from other forms of public transport. It is fun and loved by adults as much as children. When you disembark at Eaux-Vives, enjoy a walk along the lakeside via Plage des Eaux-Vives, a beautiful and animated beach in summer and wonderfully soothing out of season. It's like being at the seaside!

After that, take a left into the Eaux-Vives neighbourhood itself, one of Geneva's favourite residential areas. Here, you can pick up a takeaway at the friendly bistro Chez Max for a picnic at Parc La Grange. Their gourmet bowls and club sandwiches are delicious! After filling up on food, head for Parc La Grange. In this season it displays a magnificent array of colours. La Grange is a huge green park with majestic trees and very large green spaces, an ideal place to picnic, play and take a nap!

The lush green nature stretches further along the lakeside. Treat yourself to an after-lunch stroll and set off to discover Parc des Eaux-Vives and its magnificent rose garden.

That’s a beautiful way to savour the sweetness of life in Geneva, and for the evening, how about a traditional fondue in the Old Town?

A perfect end to a beautiful day!
