The situation in Geneva
Explore and discover Geneva despite Covid-19
You can enjoy the many facets of the city but caution is still required!
When you visit, we advise you to check the respective websites of the event organisers or other facilities to make sure they are open and maintained. Remain cautious and respect the health rules of the FOPH.
Following a decision by the Federal Council, there are various measures, rules and bans in place on the basis of the epidemic. Please check national rules carefully.
For more information regarding the validity/recognition of your covid certificate in Switzerland, you can visit https://www.ge.ch/en/covid-19-certificate/covid-certificate-vaccinated-persons or call the Green Line hotline on 0800 909 400 7/7 | 08h00-19h00. Masks must still be worn on all public transport as well as in all indoor areas. In general, masks must be worn when minimum social distancing cannot be guaranteed
On entering Switzerland, everyone aged 16 and over must be able to show the negative result of a PCR test (performed no more than 72 hours prior to entry) or a rapid antigen test (performed no more than 24 hours previously). Everyone entering Switzerland must also present a completed entry form. Fill out the electronic entry form on a computer or smartphone before you enter Switzerland. As soon as you have filled out the online form, you’ll be emailed a QR code as confirmation. Keep this code handy for inspection when you arrive in Switzerland.
If you are not vaccinated or recovered, you must take another PCR test or rapid antigen test between the 4th and 7th day after entry.
During your stay, please always refer to the Federal Council measures and ordinances.
COVID certificate for third countries - Details for the Canton of GenevaGeneva is the only Swiss canton to have taken the decision to make it free to transfer certificates from third countries (CHF 30.- in the rest of Switzerland).
Visitors simply need to certify that they will be residing at an address in Geneva during their stay (in a hotel, with friends, etc.). Evidence will be requested (plane/train ticket, accommodation reservation, invoice with an address in Geneva, etc.).
If these conditions are met, those travelling must complete a form via the following link, which we are sending you to communicate to your customers: https://smc02.hug.ch/surveys/?s=WA39AEN9T3CYMK9W
The request must be made 7 days before arrival: the time necessary for the General Directorate for Health to verify the request.
If visitors decide to visit other cantons during their stay, this is not a problem, as long as one of the addresses for their accommodation is in Geneva and the visitors have applied for a certificate.
As a reminder, here are the conditions under which a Covid Certificate can be requested by visitors from third countries (outside the EU/EFTA/Schengen Area):
- Recovery from Covid-19: you have had a positive PCR test for Covid-19 in the last 6 months (laboratory analysis with a result taking several hours).
- You are vaccinated against Covid-19 with a vaccine recognised by the EMA
- You have recovered from and are vaccinated against Covid-19. Your recovery must be proven through serology (blood test with a positive result) or a test done by a professional with a positive result (PCR or lateral flow test).
As a reminder, the interactive Travelcheck lists the measures for each country of origin.
