Saint Germain Church

The Saint-Germain church has withstood the religious evolution and diversity of past centuries.

This church is one of Geneva’s oldest. It has lived through the turbulences surrounding religious beliefs.

A charming little Gothic church, Saint-Germain has survived a very turbulent past. Its history reflects today’s multi-faceted diversity of Geneva. During the Reformation years, the eminent reformer Guillaume Farel used to preach here. After Napoleon’s troups occupied Geneva, the church reverted to Catholicism, but in 1870, with the schism shaking the authority of the Pope, it was given to the Catholic Christian Church of Geneva.

Beautiful chamber music concerts are held free of charge during the summer season.
