BILL FRISELL TRIO Anniversary Concert featuring Luke Bergman & Tim Angulo at the Alhambra on Tuesday, October 27, at 8:30 p.m.

◆ Bill Frisell’s career as a guitarist and composer spans more than 45 years and includes numerous critically acclaimed recordings, a body of work that Downbeat has called “the best discography of the decade.”
Frisell’s new album, “In My Dreams,” was released in February 2026 on Blue Note Records, coinciding with a series of concerts organized to celebrate his 75th birthday across Europe and the United States.
◆ Speaking about his trio, he says: “With Luke Bergman and Tim Angulo? It’s all about the music. Generosity.
For a very, very long time, Luke has moved me deeply. He helps me discover new things. Harmony. We’ve done so much together, and yet I feel like we’re just beginning to scratch the surface. And then there’s Tim. From the very first notes we played together, I felt at home… but at the same time in completely uncharted territory. Mystery. A beautiful dream. The unexpected. Tim Angulo and Luke Bergman together: I knew it had to happen. Adventures to come. Luke and Tim are my masters! ”
◆ Bill Frisell moves seamlessly between genres, from contemporary jazz to experimental rock, drawing on folk, blues, and country roots. His distinctive approach to the instrument—which he plays as if it were a wind instrument—has allowed him to develop his own musical language and unique phrasing. With a spirit of experimentation that never overshadows his sense of melody, he embraces this elusive quality.
◆ The guitarist has performed alongside Pat Metheny, Paul Motian, John Scofield, and even Chet Baker.
