Carte blanche

A concert where freedom is central to the performance. Mathias Spahlinger’s doppelt bejaht, which caused a scandal in 2009, returns as an immersive experience where all are free to listen… or leave.

For this latest ‘carte blanche’, the Contrechamps ensemble presents doppelt bejaht by the German composer Mathias Spahlinger. When it premiered in 2009, the piece caused a scandal, as the orchestra refused to perform it at the time.
Highly political, the work takes the form of a series of 24 individual études exploring how a musician creates their own space of freedom within a social, political and artistic context; it is an open, immersive work, performed in front of an audience free to come and go as they please during the performance. A pop-up bar will be open, with a live broadcast, to allow the audience to enjoy the experience freely whilst continuing to listen.
