In conjunction with Pink October, Éditions Labor et Fides is partnering with Librairie Nouvelles Pages for a literary evening titled “Body and Literature: Writing Traces, Expressing the Intimate.”

In her first book, *Une écorchure* (published by Éditions du Canoë), Marianne Gokalp recounts the downfall and transformation of a twenty-five-year-old woman who is diagnosed with cancer just as a new professional chapter is beginning for her. Faced with illness, familiar words falter: one must learn a new language, reinvent one’s bearings, and find a new way to inhabit one’s body. Amid wounds, absences, and encounters with caregivers, literature becomes a vessel for navigating the chaos.
How does one write about a body put to the test? How do words allow us to express the inexpressible, transform the experience, and rebuild ourselves?
A discussion bringing together literature, illness, and transformation, and sharing the power of storytelling in the face of adversity.
With Marianne Gokalp, author, and Marion Muller-Colard, publisher and author
