Ten centuries of music, forgotten women and a crazy duo: DIVA Syndicat revisits history with humor, talent and a festive spirit.

1,000 Years of Music by Women
From the Middle Ages to the present day, from Hildegard of Bingen to Aya Nakamura, DIVA Syndicat tells a different history of Western music—the history of women. Forgotten women, invisible women, but above all women musicians, composers and performers, whom Gentiane Pierre and Noémie Lamour invite us to discover or rediscover, bringing women’s cultural heritage back to the heart of our understanding of the world.
With humor and burlesque flair, these two “Union Divas” revisit ten centuries of music and give them a contemporary twist. Seeking to restore women musicians to their rightful place, the artists playfully step into their shoes, taking on the roles they chose for themselves, as well as those imposed upon them. The result is a truly unique musical and theatrical experience. While the invisibility of women in society is a serious and highly relevant issue, the performers challenge stereotypes and delight in telling these stories differently—without preaching… or perhaps from the back of the classroom and standing on a desk!
Mise à Feu is a theatre and music company founded in 2021 by Gentiane Pierre and Noémie Lamour, driven by a desire to rethink everything from the ground up. Their ambition is to connect directly with audiences, to “set the stage on fire,” and to change the world through performance.
