Hodler, Schoenberg, nature and creation: an exhibition that resonates with the poetic world of a Lebanese and Armenian composer, exploring themes of slowness, movement, gentleness and veiled violence.

The exhibition ‘Ferdinand Hodler. Profession de foi’, which will run at the International Museum of the Reformation (MIR) from 25 September 2026 to 24 January 2027, will give us the opportunity both to revisit Schoenberg’s absolute masterpiece, La Nuit transfigurée, and to discover how the painter made the idea of creation his own when applied to nature. In a similar vein, the Lebanese-Armenian composer will immerse us in a poetic world steeped in slowness and movement, gentleness and veiled violence, which will inevitably bring to mind certain characteristics of the Genevan painter.
