The Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève is pleased to continue the Spoken Worlds program in collaboration with Emmanuelle Pireyre, writer and head of the writing workshop at HEAD – Genève. Spoken Worlds invites authors or artists who work with writing to present a reading of their text, followed by a discussion.

Back to the ’80s—multimedia just like in the old days. Equipped with a slide projector, dictaphones, and cassette recorders, author Sarah Elena Müller, translator Raphaëlle Lacord, and composer Benoît Moreau present a bilingual staged reading of the novel L’enfant hors champ / Bild ohne Mädchen, published in 2023 by Limmat and in 2025 by Zoé. Accompanied by the crackling of empty cassettes, a nameless child sets out to discover the origin of a mysterious angel she had seen on the videotapes of her neighbor Egon. Egon is a media theorist, a filmmaker, and a logical thinker. But something is off. Is the angel a species? An image? A childlike representation? An adult’s idea? And has it come to seek revenge or to protect? An immersive retro audio experience inspired by the novel’s soundscape and rhythm.
