The museum of writer Paulo Coelho opens its doors in Geneva

Step into the world of Paulo Coelho, one of the world's most read and most followed authors, who has made Geneva his home for nearly twenty years.

Run by the Paulo Coelho and Christina Oiticica Foundation, this museum traces the life and work of the Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho, whose body of work has been translated into 89 languages and sold hundreds of millions of copies worldwide, including his cult novel "The Alchemist".

Housed in a fine Haussmann-style building in the Russian church district, redesigned by Brazilian architect Marcelo José Mendonça, the space spans three floors and displays deeply personal items: first editions, his very first desk, the typewriter he used at 16, and his pilgrim's cape from the Camino de Santiago.

A screening room, set up inside a former bank vault, shows a film tracing his journey from his early years in Rio to literary success, along with pivotal chapters of his youth in Brazil.

The top floor is dedicated to the work of his wife, artist Christina Oiticica, who co-directs the project with him.

Geneva holds a special place in the couple's life: they married here, and the author set two of his novels in the city.
