THE FIFOG CELEBRATES MUTUAL KNOWLEDGE AND RECOGNITION
The 19th edition of the Festival International du Film Oriental de Genève (FIFOG) will take place from June 10 to 16, 2024, in Geneva. After celebrating Feminine Freedom in 2022 and Dreaming in 2023, this year's festival will focus on Knowledge and Mutual Recognition.
This theme is not limited to an abstract concept, but highlights cinematographic works inviting everyone to get to know and recognize themselves and others, essential conditions for living together.
Under the patronage of the Swiss Commission for UNESCO, this new edition is honorarily presided over by the Lebanese writer Joumana Haddad, whose pen never ceases to plead for the rapprochement of East and West in a relationship of reciprocity and equality.
For a whole week, Geneva and its municipalities will be vibrating with the colors of the Orient. More than fifty films, accompanied by some thirty guests from East and West, will be screened, to the delight of festival-goers.
The festival is also an opportunity to reward films. Two juries, one for the International Feature Film Competition and the other for the International Short Film Competition, will award a Gold FIFOG and a Silver FIFOG respectively. A school jury will award a Gold FIFOG for the best short film.
In the Panorama section, special screenings will unveil rich and relevant works in all genres, full of emotion and poetry. From the women of Afghanistan to the Tibetans' struggle for existence, from the resistance of the Lebanese to the particular tenacity of the Maghrebians and the promotion of equality between men and women.

This new edition, a veritable filmic voyage charged with color, emotion and poetry, promises to be full of promise.
Here is an of what to expect at this rich and exciting event!
