Performance from February 23 to 26 at the Comédie de Genève. (LA)HORDE and the Ballet national de Marseille imagine a world on the brink of catastrophe, between fear and hope.

In our present moment, where uncertainty unsettles every vision of the future, haunted by the threat of conflict, political violence, and environmental and climate crises, there resurfaces the feeling of belonging to the last generation before collapse, before the end of a world. Borrowing its title from a phrase attributed to Louis XV—a maxim seemingly claimed by every generation convinced it will be the last—the new choreographic creation by (LA)HORDE for the Ballet national de Marseille plunges us into the critical moment of a tipping point: the twilight hour, both fascinating and unsettling, in which monsters awaken.
At the heart of a monumental and constantly evolving scenography, constructed in the workshops of Comédie de Genève, the work summons, through costume and movement, an aesthetic that gradually shifts from realism and everyday familiarity towards unease and the vision of a world on the brink of catastrophe. With twelve performers, Après moi, le déluge embodies a choreographic narrative shaped as much by our contemporary anxieties as by the hope of recovering the possibility of a future.
Following Room with a View and Age of Content, the production extends the singular collaboration between (LA)HORDE and the Ballet national de Marseille—whose artistic direction the collective has led since 2019—exploring contemporary culture and the power of the group. With the outside eye of Alain Damasio and an original score by Pierre Aviat, Après moi, le déluge draws on collective energy to imagine new narratives capable of resisting the languages of domination through joy, vitality and the force of togetherness.
