Arts, Crafts & Interior Architecture

The WRP Foundation invites you to discover its new exhibition “Arts, Crafts & Interior Architecture” until June 28, 2024. Opening Thursday June 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The exhibition

The “Arts, Crafts & Interior Architecture” exhibition highlights the beauty but also the rarity of artistic crafts faced with the challenges of transmission and valorization.

More and more ambitious collaborations are emerging between architects, designers and craftsmen. These projects contribute to the valorization of know-how in an exchange of technical intelligence and new forms.

In 2023, a report from the National Institute of Crafts (INMA) revealed that 65% of interior design projects included artisanal elements, reflecting a growing trend towards the integration of craftsmanship into contemporary design.

Furthermore, renowned interior designers like Pierre Yovanovitch and India Mahdavi regularly integrate unique pieces created by artisans into their projects. Collaborations with cabinetmakers, artistic ironworkers and upholsterers make it possible to create interiors where every detail is carefully thought out and made by hand.
Often pioneers in the field of eco-responsibility, artistic artisans create and develop new research, manufacturing techniques and even materials.

This is the case, for example, of glassware made from natural resources such as oyster, abalone and even snail shells. The same goes for porcelain, which is no longer just white but smoky with bark or plant ashes, giving rise to a range of textures and astonishing shades of color. The example also of blue wood used in marquetry where dead wood contaminated by a fungus naturally obtains blue and green shades.

Through this exhibition, the WRP Foundation wishes to make possible new synergies between the fields of artistic craftsmanship, architecture and design, by exhibiting pieces having both the role of works of art but also large format samples.
