A major work of the classical repertoire, *The Nutcracker* is a magical ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The story is inspired by Alexandre Dumas’s version of a tale by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann: *The Nutcracker and the Mouse King*.
"Clara, her brother Fritz, and their parents welcome guests to celebrate Christmas Eve: friends and the mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer. He brings a large bag of gifts for the children—among them, a soldier-shaped nutcracker.
During the night, a magical enchantment begins: in the living room, the toys come to life and the Nutcracker transforms into a prince..."
