Exhibition.exe is a hybrid piece.
At once a participatory performance and an interactive installation, the audience plays with a performer by giving her instructions via a video game interface. Inspired by live streaming culture (live video broadcasting on the internet), the project questions the construction of a digital identity, influenced by an audience and spectators, leaning towards self-performance and self-consumption.
The performance will come to life at Catalyse and will also be broadcast live on Twitch through various camera angles.
“For several years, I have been questioning how my image is constructed and transformed under the gaze of others”, explains Laura Den Hondt, a Belgian actress and performer based in Geneva. By embodying a streamer whose evolution depends on the audience’s choices, she highlights the tension between transformation and control in the world of streaming.
A project co-produced by Mapping Festival, L’Abri, Catalyse and supported by Loterie Romande and Pôle Numérique.
