104 mins – fiction (2024)
Swiss premiere

A young Mexican couple is delighted to welcome their first child, but when the baby is born, the medical profession, family and colleagues turn on the child. The pressure to define the child is overwhelming, as if the whole of society depended on it. The baby is intersex; their anatomy does not allow them to be classified as ‘girl or boy’.
Faced with relentless social pressure and the heavy weight of the binary system, the couple are forced to make a swift decision: for or against a life-changing operation. Amidst the pressure to conform and moments of realisation, one thing becomes clear: why decide on behalf of one’s child?
A grounded, thoughtful and thought-provoking story that must be seen without delay.

The film will be screened in the original Spanish with French subtitles.

In collaboration with the Everybody’s Perfect festival.
