It started like this... One day, while walking in the forest, dancer and choreographer Bryan Campbell picked up a dead branch and began to hit a tree trunk. From this romantic gesture - that of a solitary person in direct contact with nature - emerge emotions similar to those produced by flogging in BDSM practice. Sexual excitement, joy, the will to power and submission, anger, violence, desire for the other person and the desire to destroy them. During this whirlwind of adrenalin, we wonder: did the tree consent? Could our current ecological crisis be the consequence of a botched BDSM contract with nature? The violent pleasure of hitting the tree allows the artist to explore the relationship between humans and their ecosystems, and between living things and objects. A spectacular fantasy emerges in a wooden workshop, where planks, saws and drills serve as tools and props for an uncertain kink.
