Design(s) : Mobility & Territory
HiFlow aims to showcase the new generation of design talent by presenting projects from universities and designers, with a selection of prototypes, installations and innovations.
The ‘Design, Mobility and Territory’ exhibition explores the vision and concerns of a young, indeed very young, generation of Swiss and European designers and creators through a panorama of projects that address both the practice of mobility and the innovative approach to urban and rural territories.
The selection highlights physical, visual and digital works that reveal the aspirations, often in the near future, of a daily life that is both gentler (more ‘slow’) and more efficient, i.e. able to assess needs and uses in relation to the movements of the public and the environment in which they are located.
Making an urban space playful, creating objects for a new nomadism, hijacking the function of urban furniture, inventing new forms of transport, taking ownership of the surrounding space, making uses more fluid or accessible, making it less austere, moving around in a different way - these are all ways of reenchanting our relationship with the territory and our daily mobile use of it.
In addition to ‘guiding themes’ such as ‘urban pause’, ‘playful urbanities’, ‘nomadism’ and ‘aquatic flows’, the exhibition presents a map of creations from Switzerland and elsewhere, with a focus on innovative projects by students who have just graduated from prestigious Swiss schools such as Ecal, HEAD and EPFL. It's a specificity that places the exhibition at the heart of current regional concerns: what does the future hold for mobility in Switzerland's major cities? What are the visionary ideas for tomorrow's tourism? Or how are the different ways in which designers are adapting to the territory changing the daily lives of its citizens in a sustainable way, and adapting to an ever-changing climate?
Between projects, concrete solutions and playful ideas, we are delighted to share this selection of design that offers, with kindness, another look at our mobile and physical future.
