A weekend around art and artificial intelligence, between the BM and the MAH
A weekend of events between MAH and BM to explore visual creation and generative AI.
What does an AI look at? What are its representations of the Renaissance? An evening café terrace in Arles? AIs are capable of producing images by pastiching artists and aesthetic trends, and reproducing motifs. They are provided with a text, called a "prompt", describing content, visual references and creative intentions. This round table brings together experts from the fields of art and machine learning to question the visual culture of generative AI and its challenges.

11am-12pm - Chapter 1: (D)écrire une image au MAH (Rue Charles-Galland 2)
Reading text is part of basic training, whereas reading images is often neglected, as if seeing was enough to read. 1pm-2pm Chapter 2: Exploring images at the BAA (Prom. du Pin 5)
The prompt library: a presentation of the most important art books and magazines ever published, drawn from the BAA's precious and current collections. Between the shelves, we know how to look for a title or an author, but how do we find an image or a visual inspiration? Use BAA books and 3038 (50-97) to match the right prompts...

2.30 pm - 4.30 pm Chapter 3: Drawing an image with AI at Espace le 4e (Rue de la Tour-de-Boël 10)
Creating illustrations for imaginary worlds when you can't draw is now possible with visual AIs. What images of future worlds do we want? Paul Hegi and Antón de Macedo are the authors of 3038 (50-97), an art book created entirely with visual AIs, where each chapter features a different biome. Poet Antón will be with you in this workshop to teach you how to create prompts and, in a human-machine dialogue, go beyond clichés.
