Songs of Love and Laughter
World premiere, music by Scott Stroman, poems by Wendy Cope with the choirs, students and community of the Ecolint Foundation Orchestra.
To celebrate the centenary of Ecolint, the acclaimed American-British composer Scott Stroman has written a new cycle of songs for the event, Songs of Love and Laughter, featuring students from the three campuses of the International School of Geneva, as well as the Foundation’s adult choir and orchestra, which includes students, teachers and adults from our community.
Scott Stroman is a multi-faceted musician: composer, conductor, performer and educator in the fields of jazz, classical and world music.
He is the Director of the London Jazz Orchestra, Professor of Jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Director of the Eclectic Voices Choir, Artistic Director of Highbury Opera Theatre, Director of the contemporary string ensemble Opus 20, Director of Music at the American International Church in London and conductor of orchestras, choirs, bands, opera and music theatre.
Among the jazz, world music and popular music artists he has worked with as a performer, conductor and/or arranger are Phil Collins, Goran Bregović, Youssou N’Dour, Seu Jorge, Billy Cobham, Randy Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, Rufus Reid, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby Wellins and Liza Minnelli.
A singer and trombonist, he co-directs the Stroman-Jönsson Project with Swedish saxophonist Cennet Jönsson.
