Concert by Kashi at the AMR on Friday, October 16, at 9:00 p.m., in co-production with the Ateliers d'Ethnomusicologie (ADEM)

Kashi—one of the ancient names for Benares, or Varanasi—evokes the “luminous” city, a center of knowledge, spirituality, and devotion.
On the banks of the Ganges, this sacred city in northern India has inspired artists, poets, musicians, and dancers for centuries, following in the footsteps of Shiva, the symbolic guardian of this land of pilgrimage. The Banarasi tradition is expressed here through kathak, a classical dance in which rhythmic virtuosity, improvisation, storytelling, and devotion intertwine.
Conceived by Gauri Priscilla Brülhart to celebrate twenty years of her career, this production brings together artists trained by masters of the musical and choreographic traditions of Benares.
A sensitive and luminous journey through music, dance, shared experience, and inner reflection.
Concert organized by the Ateliers d’ethnomusicologie and the AMR, with support from the City of Geneva and the Fonds culturel Sud.
