ETHNO FRIDAYS: MIRAS, ON THE SILK ROAD

As part of the Musique et mystique festival (Les nuits du monde)

Made up of musicians from various regions along the Silk Road, the Miras group explores a particularly rich artistic heritage (miras). Led by renowned Uyghur singer Rahima Mahmut, the group brings together instrumentalists and singers deeply rooted in the traditions of their various communities. Its repertoire ranges from the maqām of Central Asian classical music, to the spiritual traditions of the Sufis of the same region and the Alevis of Anatolia, via the classical and popular repertoires of the Middle East, notably Azerbaijan, Turkey and Syria.

Concert organized by Ateliers d'ethnomusicologie and AMR, with the support of the City of Geneva and Fonds culturel Sud.
