Provocative, fierce and irresistibly funny: (re)discover Phil Mulloy through 11 short films fuelled by wickedly dark humour. A tribute to a free spirit of British animation. Ages 16+

British filmmaker PHIL MULLOY, who passed away in 2025, developed a radical and instantly recognisable body of work: deliberately raw, minimalist drawings populated by grotesque figures and driven by fiercely dark humour. With exhilarating freedom, his films tear through conventions and take aim at society’s failings, religion, power, violence and the absurdities of human nature.
Beneath the provocation and irreverence lies a clear-eyed and profoundly distinctive view of our world. This retrospective of 11 short films, presented in their original versions with French subtitles, offers a chance to (re)discover some of his most biting, absurd and exhilarating fables. A tribute to a fiercely independent and unclassifiable voice in British animation, in the presence of his wife, filmmaker Vera Neubauer.
