FESTIVAL IMMERSIF : Calpini - Truffaz - Agabekov

On Thursday, December 12 and Friday, December 13 2024, Geneva's brand new Centre des Musiques Actuelles will be holding its IMMERSIVE FESTIVAL, a unique event to be held in the Auditorium Ansermet, right in the heart of the city. For just over a year now, the Centre's modernised infrastructure and cutting-edge technological equipment have been devoted to stage performances that combine musical creativity and technical innovation. The legendary Ansermet Studio, where prestigious recordings took place, is now an imposing concert hall with a capacity of 300. The new Ansermet Auditorium is equipped with pivoting sound-absorbing panels to accommodate both acoustic and amplified music, and an immersive sound system with 64 loudspeakers positioned all around the audience. On Friday 13 December, the evening will be devoted to an exclusive collaborative performance between Christophe Calpini, Erik Truffaz and Ladislav Agabekov, specially conceived for the Auditorium Ansermet. This encounter between the drummer, the trumpeter and the sound engineer gives rise to a captivating hybrid project combining jazz, electroacoustics and amplified music.

Christophe Calpini, a pioneering figure in electronic music, deploys a hypnotic palette of sounds, blending textures and rhythms to create a magnetic soundscape. Eminent jazz trumpeter Erik Truffaz weaves sublime, spellbinding improvisations into this canvas. Electronic and acoustic materials come together in a delectable symbiosis. The D&B Soundscape system and the expertise of sound engineer Ladislav Agabekov, who makes a technical and artistic contribution to the project, will ensure total immersion. Every note, every breath, every vibration will surround the audience, placing them at the heart of the creation.

Seated in circle around the artists, the audience will be immersed in the sound: an unprecedented sensory dive fusing improvisation and electronics, enhanced by the magic of the Auditorium Ansermet.
