HOW TO DO THINGS WITH WORDS
How do you dance with words? «How to Do Things with Words» is a two step between body and written text, between language and movement. Two-dimensional in essence, printed texts add surprising depth to a dance performance. The choreography, very physical, abounds in thrilling rhythms, is sometimes ironic, poetic, and makes the footwork and the puns dialogue.
Born in New York and living in Bern, Joshua Monten studied literature and cultural anthropology before starting dance studies. On stage he was seen at the Bern Ballet and the Stadttheater Heidelberg. In 2012, Joshua founded his own company that has since performed in numerous theatres, festivals, museums and street corners around the world. Each of his productions combines the rigor of the composition with the pleasure of the game.
