For the 28th edition of the FILMAR Festival in Latin America, Paula Cury’s Niñas escarlata will be screened at the Cinémas du Grütli—with support from the BPEV.

In the Dominican Republic, abortion is banned without exception. Through intimate personal accounts, the film sheds light on the realities of unwanted pregnancies, forced motherhood, and clandestine abortions. Paula Cury crafts a sensory documentary in which the voices of teenage girls and women intertwine with the carefully choreographed, everyday gestures of non-professional actresses.
