Geneva Peace Week (GPW 24)

GPW is a leading annual event on the international peacebuilding agenda. The forum will be held at the Maison de la Paix from October 14 to 18, 2024.

Geneva Peace Week (GPW) is a key annual event on the international peacebuilding agenda, where Geneva-based organizations and their international partners come together to exchange knowledge and experience on a variety of peace-related themes in all contexts and disciplinary fields.
In an age marked by discord and uncertainty, the 11th GPW boldly poses a fundamental question: "What is peace? As the world faces escalating conflict, growing inequality and unprecedented global challenges, this overarching theme is a poignant reminder of the elusive nature of peace and the urgent need to redefine and reaffirm its meaning. Above all, the theme "What is Peace?" is a call to action across the globe.
In the context of an increasingly fragmented world, GPW 2024 seeks to explore the multiple dimensions of peace, probing not only its meaning - for peace can be understood in many ways - but also its value and intrinsic link to the well-being of humanity. The need for collective action and international cooperation is increasingly recognized. The future role of the multilateral system in peace-building and prevention efforts will be decisive in the years to come. Initiatives such as the New Agenda for Peace, the Summit of the Future, and the review of the UN's peacebuilding architecture to 2025 bear witness to our collective effort to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
