Is it true that twenty thousand years ago the Rhône glacier covered our region? Yes, it is!
Geneva was cold, very cold. Yet in the 19th century, most scientists believed that the Earth had been warmer in the past. It was against this backdrop that Swiss scientists made a big splash. Drawing on their naturalist observations in the Alps, they played a decisive role in the development and international dissemination of glacial theory. Come and shiver with us back to the days when Geneva was under ice!
