hackedepicciotto

Comprising underground legends Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke, hackedepicciotto are back with an album featuring an anti-globalisation cabaret atmosphere and the sounds of future folklore.

Une femme et un homme posent au centre de l'image avec des étuis de guitare, devant un fond urbain (graffitis).

The legendary underground duo returns armed with a new album: Lichtung. Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) and Danielle de Picciotto (Space Cowboys) once again push the boundaries of their music. Meaning “clearing” in German, the title of this latest work offers a glimpse of the soundscape that awaits.

Written entirely in the language of Goethe, the songs on Lichtung often resemble folk incantations drifting from ancient, mist-covered forests. Yet beneath these deceptively simple forms lies the duo’s unmistakable power. New electronic textures subtly enhance melodies performed on the piano by Danielle de Picciotto, who returns here to an instrument that occupies a central place throughout the album.

Recorded in their new home on the outskirts of Berlin, Lichtung marks an important chapter in the artists’ journey. Its compositions unfold through freer and more adventurous structures than ever before, embracing detours, contrasts and unexpected turns. Moving between hypnotic songs, sonic experimentation and constantly shifting electronic soundscapes, Hackedepicciotto continue to carve out a path entirely their own.
