GNAWA DIFFUSION

The members of the group Gnawa Diffusion come from different horizons, all along the Mediterranean. Their story is a symbolic reflection of what immigrants have experienced in France. Maybe that's why Amazigh Kateb feels so close to uprooted men. Himself declares and proclaims it. Son of the famous Algerian writer Kateb Yacine, he arrived in France in 1988 at the age of sixteen and quickly developed a combative and even rebellious philosophy: for him, the situation has to change and inequalities have to disappear.
Gnawa Diffusion's music spread this message of protest. Rap, ragga, reggae, jazz, raï, whatever it is, they know how to play it. Their musical skills, instrumentation, taste and attraction for sounds, feelings and meanings have led their music to the forefront of the world scene
