INTRODUCTION TO LINDY HOP

Come and try your hand at the Lindy Hop, the ancestor of rock but with a similar musical style and basic step. This energetic, rhythmic couple dance is sure to get you swinging!

The first of the swing dances, the Lindy Hop originated in the black American community of Harlem in the late 1920s. It is a blend of several dances from the four corners of the United States: the Charleston, tap, Texas Tommy and Black Bottom. Rich and diverse, it borrows from the improvised movements of African dances and the disciplined six- and eight-beat structure of European dances. Joyful and spontaneous, it's a great opportunity for conviviality and creativity.
