La luz de un lago - El Conde de Torrefiel
A co-production as part of the Festival Antigel from 13 to 16 February 2025 at the Maison Saint-Gervais in Geneva.
You won't see the main character in this show. At the controls: sound. A great invisible demiurge, it drives all the scenic phenomena without revealing itself. Here, scenography, lighting, materials and bodies are composed, sculpted and choreographed by sound, whose spectrum oscillates from raw noise to musical harmony. Under the waves of frequencies emitted by a monumental sound system, subtle landscapes appear and mutate, with a visual power that activates our perception in depth. Like a giant mouth, this immense totem of loudspeakers speaks to us in a universal language, devoid of any defined gender, identity or culture. Reconnecting with our capacity to listen leads to unsuspected sensory journeys, beyond the material boundaries of visible architecture, opening up limitless sensory spaces. Complex mental images emerge, as if our minds were catching their breath after the intensive visual bludgeoning that suffocates our imagination. In the form of artistic manifestos, the immersive works by the duo EL conde de Torrefiel, formed by Swiss artist Tanya Beyeler and Spaniard Pablo Gisbert, poetically combat new forms of totalitarianism and the prevailing intellectual alienation by questioning the impact of our commitments, responsibilities and individual freedoms.
