Would you like a little more guilt?
You can gorge yourself on Dürrenmatt, but sometimes the bill can be painful. Especially when you're the turkey in a farce that merrily mixes up notions of justice, truth and gender.
The author of La Panne loved a good feast. As it happens, so did Gabriel Alvarez, who regularly concocts astonishing theatrical feasts of his own. The rest is a game, a fool's game if you consider that the law is a fiction. Be that as it may, two rituals clash here, one judicial, the other gastronomic. The mouths accuse, the consciences are twisted, the meat is torn apart, and the result is great flchss, as Brel sang. When you sit down at the table in this jubilant behind-the-scenes adventure, between cheese and dessert, justice and truth, you'll accept that you don't always feel good about what you're eating.
