BURIED LOVES

An abandoned shed, a deserted beach, a few fragments of memories. That’s all that remains of the Bruant Fou, a legendary summer cabaret that disappeared thirty years earlier. Digging deep into their memories, Camille, Sacha, and Arlette set out in search of a mysterious box buried beneath the sand and the passage of time - a veritable time capsule said to hold the secrets of a happier era. Armed with metal detectors, they scan the ground for it, reenact the steps of a ritual said to hold the secret to its location, and bring ghosts of the past and forgotten details back to life. As time passes and stories emerge, a new, strong, and unexpected bond forms between them.
In Le chant des bruants fous, Lou Ciszewski draws on the conventions of cabaret, distorting and stretching them to forge a new form that straddles fiction and the genre’s traditions. Infusing this enigmatic story with whimsical humor and lighthearted joy, she creates a timeless world on stage where invisible legacies shift, are reenacted, and become the stuff of invention.
