Duo Philomène with Lea Masson et Dania El Zein

Duo Philomèle, comprising Léa Masson and Dania El Zein, formed at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique (CNSMDP). Together, the two musicians take the audience on a journey spanning several centuries of music created by women—from the theorbo (an ancestor of the guitar) to 20th-century repertoire.
Although long associated with the salon setting, the guitar’s history has been significantly shaped by female composers, whose works remain heard all too rarely. Through a mix of rediscovered pieces and contemporary works, this program highlights the enduring presence of women in the instrument's history and invites the audience to take a fresh look at a musical heritage that remains largely unknown.
This concert is presented in partnership with the Château de Voltaire.
