Les Shadocks-Christian Geffroy Schlittler

A wickedly nostalgic comedy about some volatile beings

Love disorders; family comedy; wig games; bad faith and real reasons; national upheavals; table turning and absent chairs; emotional stigmas and manual labour; absence of cynicism, naivety and crudeness of feeling: a little alternative French history of the 21st century in an hour and a half.
1998. A farm in the north-west of France, near Laval, called ‘Le Manoir’.
Here live Alexandre, Caroline, Julien and, soon, their daughter Janis.
Whoever the sire, the loving trio are the father, son and Holy Spirit of a secular, libertine and libertarian little corner of France.
Paul is 29 years old. He renovates old houses in the south of France.
He took part in the many Dionysian parties that Alexandre and Caroline organised from 1990 to 1993, and now returns to the region of his youth for longer and longer stays at the Manoir.
The play therefore runs from that date to the present day.
26 years during which Alexandre, Caroline, Julien and Paul, from their early thirties to their late fifties, form their own personal and singular strategies to never achieve wisdom, maturity, contentment (and as the France Culture programme says, it's not so easy to succeed at failing).
