Lynda Lemay
Life is a tale of fools
Lynda Lemay has a gift for entertaining while shaking hearts and ideas.
Like a sort of tightrope walker, Lynda Lemay skilfully dances on the tightrope between theater and song, fairytale and horror, human beauty and ugliness... Her show "La vie est un conte de fous" (Life is a Tale of Fools) is surprisingly audacious. In a setting reminiscent of a marvellous tale, piano, guitars, saxophone and accordion blend harmoniously around the artist's incisive, chiselled lyrics.
Lynda Lemay's new show "La vie est un conte de fous" is aptly titled. In an age when we have to adapt to an ever-changing reality, Lynda offers a concert where spontaneity takes center stage. The artist, who recently embarked on a long voyage with her monumental "Il était onze fois" project (eleven albums of eleven songs in 1111 days...), promises as the cruise progresses, tides of songs that obey the winds of the day, changing color as time goes by. Her chiselled verses petulantly and precisely deconstruct themes such as family, old age, "hommerie", love, mourning... Lynda imposes her gentle swell on the crowd, who confidently let themselves be rocked. In "La vie est un conte de fous", the laughter is as wild as the tears are meaningful. It's a constant pleasure to sway between the two.
Flanked by her prodigious guitarist/pianist/chorist Claude Pineault, Lynda invites the audience to plunge wholeheartedly into the depths of the life she recounts, at the risk of drowning their eyes a few times. Set against a magnificent backdrop of lights by Pierre Roy, Lynda and her partner shine with all their talents, touching with their simplicity. True to her distinctive style, Lynda outdoes herself on every level, becoming a household name thanks to her gift for entertaining while shaking hearts and ideas. Once again, the singer-songwriter knows better than ever how to move people and make them burst out laughing. No one knows better than her how to open the voice, stretch the words and caress the soul.
