This is the second edition of Matières Inflammables!
For three days, contemporary writing takes center stage.
Hear what’s being written right here, right now—what’s taking shape here and elsewhere in people’s minds, lives, and very cores. Texts you’ve never heard before—unpublished, rarely or never performed. Theater as an echo chamber of the world.
Five texts written by contemporary playwrights, staged as staged readings by five female directors, and performed by six actresses.
This is an opportunity to encounter powerful writing that echoes very current issues: fire, motherhood, sex workers, women’s place in society, and war. Plays originating from German-speaking Switzerland, France/Japan, Lebanon, and Switzerland.
For this second edition, you’ll hear the following texts:
*Où je vais* by Catherine Tinivella Aeschimann
*Virages noirs* by Shiho Kasahara
*Devenir Baleine* by Iris Keller
*Le Ruban* by Hala Moughanie
*Gosses du béton* by Thibaut Galis

La 3J, co-directors:
We care deeply about this event centered on contemporary dramatic writing. It’s a true echo chamber of the world. Through the authors—who serve as watchful eyes—situations, issues, and blind spots are scrutinized through language. We also want it to be lively and spirited, and for it to unfold quickly. Finally, we want it to provide an opportunity to meet today’s playwrights. They’ll be there. Come listen, chat, and dance!
